DISCOVER DEMOCRACY
U.S. Government, Diplomacy & National Security

6 Days - Summer 2007 Email page to a Friend

WASHINGTON, DC, Catholic University

Imagine stepping into the shoes of a Member of Congress or other head of the CIA…or even the President. At the NJLC, you’ll not only witness government and leadership in action in our nation’s capital – you’ll live it!

You’ll get an up-close look at the exciting and often controversial world of government, politics, international diplomacy and national security. You’ll meet leaders who will give you an inside view of leadership in our nation’s capital. You will participate in realistic simulations where you will gain a unique understanding of what it takes to lead in today’s world.

POLITICAL SIMULATION
In our Political Simulation, you will take on the roles of leaders in our three branches of government. You will learn how leaders in the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches operate as they debate, negotiate and compromise to address the difficult issues facing our nation and our world.

NATIONAL SECURITY SIMULATION
In out National Security Simulation, you’ll explore the roles of decision-makers, intelligence officers, senior military personnel and diplomatic officials. Then, in our real-world simulation of a national crisis, you’ll take on the responsibility of being the head of an intelligence agency. As part of the United Nations negotiating team, you’ll attempt to reach peaceful resolutions to difficult international issues.
